President
Prof. Michael Smith, MS, PA-C is an experienced Physician Assistant educator with 10 years of experience in the PA school admissions process. From reviewing CASPA applications and supplemental essays to conducting live interviews under various models, Prof. Smith has seen and done it all.
In addition to his work in PA admissions, for over a decade he has been teaching in both the didactic and clinical phases, advising, and mentoring PA students throughout their training and into their careers. He began his career in the didactic area with the MCPHS PA Program in Boston, MA and later moved to the Boston University PA Program as Associate Director of Clinical Education until December 2024.
During his time in PA education, he has taught a wide variety of medical topics as well as practical clinical and diagnostic skills. During the Clinical Phase of the BU PA Program, Smith worked closely with students to develop and improve their clinical skills. In addition to creating new courses for didactic and clinical curriculum, he also mentored students in their thesis preparation, taught in multiple didactic and experiential learning classes, and coordinated with other disciplines to increase interprofessional experience for the PA students. He also provided leadership as the Faculty Advisor to the PA program’s Student Government Association. Currently, he is an adjunct faculty member with the University of New England PA Program in Portland, Maine as both a lecturer and clinical skills instructor.
Prior to entering academia in 2015, Smith worked for 13 years as a Physician Assistant specializing in orthopedic surgery in the southern New Hampshire area. His career in medicine began in the early 1990s when he was a paramedic providing emergency 911 coverage for several greater Boston communities.
Prof Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Boston and earned his Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the Northeastern University Bouve College of Health Sciences in Boston in 2001.
He and his wife, an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant, and two sons reside in New Hampshire. When not working, Smith plays goalie in men’s league recreational hockey three times per week. In addition, he enjoys traveling with his family and kayaking.
Deb Smith, MHP, MBA, PA-C

Deb Smith has been practicing as an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant for almost 30 years in Southern NH. She has also been closely involved in PA education as a Clinical Preceptor, Adjunct faculty, lecturer, ACLS instructor, and clinical skills trainer. Her experience in the PA Profession and her knowledge of how PA students can succeed is immeasurable.
Ms. Smith began her healthcare career as an EMT in 1989 and graduated from the Northeastern University PA Program in 1993. After working in inpatient medicine to start, she transitioned into Emergency Medicine and has been a ground breaker since. She was the first PA in the ED at Southern NH Medical Center and the first PA to be invited to serve on it’s Medical Executive Committee.
Ms. Smith received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stonehill College in Easton, MA and her Master of Health Profession in Physician Assistant studies from Northeastern University in Boston in 1993. Not satisfied with just one Master’s, she received her MBA from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY in 2022.
Ms. Smith lives in southern New Hampshire with her husband, an Ortho PA, and her two sons. She is frequently found in the gym or out running, hiking or kayaking.
